Carrying the Torch

What Next was a forum that provided a community to support individuals who have been impacted by cancer. The site provided a place where patients, survivors, and caregivers could connect and support one another. The site and forum have existed since 2001, The site had been defunct for a number of years due to unfortunate circumstances and the community had lost a pillar of support. In the early 2020’s, Patient Worthy decided to rejuvenate the forums and website by providing a well needed update for both the visual design and supporting forum system. The design and systems had not been updated in years and was woefully behind in terms of technology. The site lacked mobile support and lacked many security and usability features that are standard in modern web design.

This project had massive requirements - the transfer of countless posts and replies, the numerous categories that cover the numerous topics and types of cancer, as well as transferring countless users. It was decided to utilize a modern design implemented on Wordpress as well as a well supported and modern forum system in Vanilla Forums.

We were able to successfully migrate years worth of content and users, as well as update the design and implement content from PatientWorthy.com to provide news that relates to cancer.

Currently the forum has been flourishing, with increased visitation and engagement exponentially higher than previously seen.
